Course Summary

The course aims to introduce advanced theoretical and practical understanding, as well as provide possible answers to energy and climate change problems. The key objective is to dissect a broad range of energy and climate change frameworks with a special emphasis on the African experience. The course surveys the law, regulation, and policy drivers that determine energy development and inter- connected climate change considerations. Specific topics include: Introduction, Nature and Overview of Energy Resources; International Law and Energy Resources; African Energy and Natural Resources; National Legal Framework – Nigeria as a Case Study I; National Legal Framework – Nigeria as a Case Study II; and Industry Specific Perspectives and Challenges in Energy and Climate Change Law and Policy.
