Course Summary

The objective of the course is to give a better understanding of the economics of the energy industries in relation to trends in the overall economy and the society, and better quantitative and analytical skills to examine complex price behaviour and to develop new revenue generation models and project development approaches. Specific topics include: Introduction to Energy Policy and Regulation; Fundamentals of Energy Policy; Fundamentals of Economic Regulation and Restructuring of Energy Industries; Pricing Policies; Restructuring in Energy Industries; Economic Considerations across the Oil Value Chain; Economic Considerations across the Natural Gas Value Chain; Economic Considerations across the Electric Power Value Chain; and Economics of Energy Efficiency.
