Course Summary

The course examines economic theory, empirical perspectives, and political economy of petroleum supply and demand. It aims to broaden students' knowledge in local, national, and global markets for oil, natural gas and public policies affecting energy markets, including taxation, price regulation and deregulation. Specific topics include: Nigeria and World Energy Geopolitics; Essentials of Oil and Gas Value Chains; Oil and Gas Market Structures; Energy Industry Organizations; Exploration and Production; Refining Economics; Petroleum Products Transportation and Distribution; Development of Nigerian Content in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry; and the Future of Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry.
