CPEEL Students and Faculty Present Papers at NAEE/IAEE Conference

CPEEL Faculty and students presented their papers at the recent Nigerian Association of Energy Economics (NAEE)/International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE) International Conference held recently at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.

The conference provided an avenue for energy professionals in academics, government and industry within and outside Nigeria to interact and exchange ideas on current developments in the energy sector and to contribute to evidence-based discourse on current energy policy issues.

Professor Akin Iwayemi, the Principal Investigator of the Centre and Professor Adeola Adenikinju, the Centre’s Director presented their joint paper entitled “Developments in Global Oil Market: Causal Factors and Prospects.” The paper investigates the determinants of the current developments in the Global Oil Market, particularly the fluctuation and volatility of oil prices. Presentations were also made by CPEEL students and faculty.

The conference was chaired by Dr. Emmanuel Egbogah, the former Special Adviser to the President on Petroleum Matters, and the keynote speech delivered by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SEPLAT Plc, Engr. Austin Avuru. The conference also witnessed the election of Professor Wumi Iledare as the new NAEE President, as the tenure of the Professor Adeola Adenikinju came to an end at the end of the conference.
