Course Summary
The course aims to help students develop skills in academic research and writing for application to master's theses and the workplace. It discusses statistical and econometric techniques for estimating various economic relationships or models for the purpose of hypothesis testing and/or forecasting; including systematic applied research methodology and targeted writing critique and support from seasoned native English writers and teachers. Specific topics include: General Introduction to Research Methodology; Introduction to Time Series Data; Cross Sectional and Panel Data, Using Relevant Econometric Packages; Macroeconomic Modelling; Principles of Applied Research; Policy Modelling Applications in African Economies and System Dynamics.
