Dr. Philip Mshelbila

Dr. Philip Mshelbila has served as Shell’s General Manager for Communications in West Africa since 2012. Prior to that, he was General Manager, Sustainable Development and Community Relations for Shell Companies in Nigeria—a role that entailed managing sustainable development and social investment as well as relations with communities, local and state governments in the Niger Delta.

Previous roles include Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas Ltd; Commercial Manager and Project Development Manager in Shell Gas & Power; Private Assistant to the Chief Executive of Royal Dutch Shell; Regional (Business) Adviser, Shell International, The Netherlands, and Regional Health Manager, Africa.

Philip’s Shell career began in the downstream where he spent about 10 years before moving into the midstream Gas &Power business in The Netherlands and Nigeria. Before joining Shell in 1994 he spent a few years working for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Philip has a degree in Human Medicine (MB,BS) from the Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, postgraduate qualification in Occupational & Environmental Medicine from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, Spain.
