Omowumi O. Iledare, a Professor of Petroleum Economics and Policy Research and the Director of Energy Information Division of the Center for Energy Studies, is also a Visiting Professor of Petroleum Economics at the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS) in the University of Port Harcourt, and the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, Nigeria. Professor Iledare has over twenty-five years of oil and gas experience spanning both practice and research. Dr. Iledare holds a B.Sc. degree with honors in petroleum engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, an M.S. in energy resources from University of Pittsburgh’s School of Engineering, and a Ph.D. in mineral and energy resource economics from West Virginia University.
Professor Iledare was the president of the United States Association for Energy Economics (USAEE) in 2008. He is the 2013 president-elect of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE). Dr. Iledare is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and currently serves as an associate editor of SPE Journal of Economics & Management. He has facilitated short courses on petroleum economics and risk analysis at SPE Conferences for SPE Nigeria Council from since 1999. He has also conducted petroleum economics and policy seminars and workshops on behalf of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), and NNPC in Nigeria.
Professor Iledare is a recipient of many professional awards in recognition of his distinctive services and professional competence in petroleum economics including Distingquished Fello, Nigerian Association for Energy Economics, 2010; SPE African Region Award for distinguished contribution to petroleum engineering profession in the area of management and information, 2008; USAEE Senior Fellow, 2007; SPE Nigeria Council Best Technical Paper award, 2007; SPE Nigeria Council recognition award, 2004; USAEE Service Award, 2003; President, Association of Nigerian Petroleum Professionals Abroad (ANPPA), 2002-2004; 20-Year Service Award, Louisiana State University, 2002; SPE Nigeria Council Distinguish Service Award, 2002.
